Let’s Talk Agritech at GAIA!

With uncertain times concerning climate change, inflation, sustainability, and meeting food demands across the world, it’s time to talk about agriculture and agritech. Agriculture is one of the most important industries in the world. It’s the backbone of civilisation as it determines the food we eat and even what kind of world we live in.

Exploring the future of agritech and agriculture

GAIA–the Global AgriTech and Innovation Assembly–hits London this October to bring together some of the greatest innovators and pioneers from the agritech sector, along with leading firms, government bodies, farmers, and associations from all corners of the globe. The main objective of the assembly is to provide a space where topics concerning the leading issues in the sector can be discussed and debated. Now more than ever, agritech plays a vital role in food production, sustainability, and even environmental concerns, which is why events like GAIA are so important.

GAIA will delve deep into topics like technology and innovation, such as indoor agriculture, the future of meat production, open-air farming, and sustainable practices for anyone interested in the future of agriculture and business. This one-day conference with more than 25 speakers will take place in London with some 200 attendees on the 25th of October, but it’ll also be streamed live online so that anyone can be a part of the conversation.

What are the most pressing topics on the agenda?

Sustainability is perhaps the most pressing issue in the farming landscape. Concerns about climate change and how to change farming practices to adapt to new environments and put less of a strain on nature while still meeting food demands worldwide are at the forefront. Technology is another: How we can optimise farming practices to streamline the industry with innovation to deal with these challenges. Here is what you can expect we’ll talk about at this year’s GAIA in more detail.

Bringing farming inside

As climates change with increasing droughts and extreme weather, indoor farming could be the key to keeping up with the world’s food needs in a more predictable and controllable way. However, indoor farming faces many challenges, as the technology is at a very early stage. One topic on the agenda covers recent innovations and developments in hydroponics, aeroponics, artificial lighting and high-precision climate controls to bring farming indoors. At GAIA, we will discuss the above, along with innovations in vertical farming and whether alternative energy sources could combat rising fuel costs, and more.

Optimising meat production

Can we use tech to optimise meat production? In the world of Big Data, it seems that the meat industry can utilise new technologies using sensors, hardware, machine learning, monitoring devices, and the cloud to make the meat and poultry industry more efficient, sustainable, and offer better well being for the animals.

Cultivating modern open air farms

New technologies such as infield sensors, satellite imagery, machinery drones, and robots are transforming agriculture. But the question is, does it make farming more efficient? What if we could use sensors and modern technology to automate farming? This is a topic that will be discussed at GAIA. We’ll also debate whether incorporating all these advanced tech solutions like the internet of things and automation will increase yield prices.

How to simplify agriculture supply chains

Can cloud-based platforms and platforms powered by blockchain technology improve farm management? We’re looking forward to exploring this subject more at GAIA, where we’ll talk about how to use data to help farmers gain better profits, make better decisions, and obtain higher yields, and also the possible challenges that could get in the way.

Can hemp help reduce carbon emissions?

Hemp is a unique crop that could be a game changer. Hemp has many uses, as it can be used in biofuel, cosmetics, and even for medical products. But can hemp help reduce carbon emissions? We will look at the challenges and motivations of hemp cultivation, along with technology and regulatory developments concerning hemp.

How innovation can change the world of agriculture

One of the topics everyone is discussing in the agricultural sector is reaching net zero emissions by 2050. Although all industries are affected, agriculture is expected to account for a third of total emissions in the European Union. Agritech can be a way the agricultural sector can meet those goals. Although renewable technology plays a huge part in this, other innovations can change the world of agriculture through agritech.

Significant challenges await us, from food production to local consumption and export to flood risk management, protection of habitats, and preserving spaces in nature.

The time has come to bring investment and innovation into the agriculture sector to propel us into a better future for everyone.

Proudly sponsoring GAIA

We believe that getting the industry’s best minds together to debate the future of one of the world economy’s most important sectors can make a difference. That’s why Granter is proudly sponsoring GAIA. We share the same vision that we need stronger links between investors and agritech entrepreneurs and that events like GAIA are important to inspire future innovators. You can see more about GAIA, how to get a ticket, where it is, and all the information you need.

We look forward to seeing you on the 25th at GAIA!
